This export-oriented sport-touring motorcycle was introduced for the 1993 model year as part of Suzuki’s RF series, a line developed to blend everyday road use with the visual presence and wind protection of a fully faired performance machine. It sat between pure supersports and more upright touring models, using a distinctive half-fairing and a chassis layout shared in concept with the smaller-displacement RF400R. Suzuki’s own heritage materials place the model in production from 1992 through 1996, and contemporary coverage identified 1993 as its introduction year. The result was a niche but memorable middleweight aimed at riders who wanted sporty styling and high-speed stability without moving all the way to a race-replica riding position. The design stood out in the 1990s Suzuki lineup for its broad, rounded bodywork and integrated fairing structure, which gave the bike a unique profile compared with both the Katana family and later GSX-R supersports. Although it was not a long-running nameplate, it earned a loyal following among enthusiasts who appreciated its blend of comfort, wind protection, and understated sporting character. The RF series as a whole became a recognizable chapter in Suzuki’s 1990s motorcycle history, and this model remains the best-known six-hundred-class member of that family.
