Moto-Cross

This nameplate marked the start of the company’s production motocross era. After Suzuki’s early factory involvement in motocross racing through the mid-1960s and its first world-title success in 1970, the production motocross line arrived for the 1971 model year with the TM400 Cyclone, followed by smaller and larger TM variants in the early 1970s. These machines were part of the company’s transition from race development to customer-facing competition bikes, and they became closely associated with the first generation of Japanese production motocrossers. The TM family ran through the 1975 model year, when the RM series began replacing it in the showroom. Enthusiasts remember the TM bikes for their early, uncompromising dirt-bike character and for establishing the company’s long motocross identity.
