MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the GSX250R

Introduced for the 2017 model year, this fully faired small-displacement sportbike was developed as a global street model with everyday usability in mind. Suzuki unveiled it in late 2016 and launched it in markets beginning in 2017, positioning it as a sporty, approachable machine with a focus on low- to mid-range rideability rather than outright peak performance. It was developed from the earlier GSR250 and carried Suzuki’s modern GSX-family styling into the quarter-liter class.

The model’s history has been straightforward: it arrived as a new nameplate in the modern Suzuki lineup and has remained in production through multiple model years without a known discontinuation and revival cycle. That makes it notable as one of Suzuki’s long-running entry-level sport offerings in the global market. Its significance is less about racing pedigree and more about being a practical, rider-friendly sportbike that brought fully faired GSX styling to newer and urban-oriented riders.
