For more than two decades of continuous production, the model stayed remarkably true to its original formula. Rather than evolving through major redesigns, it earned its reputation through consistency: approachable character, easy maneuverability, and a straightforward mechanical layout that made it popular with commuters, newer riders, and enthusiasts looking for a dependable platform for customization. Suzuki continued to list it through the 2024 model year, after which the line was superseded by the all-new DR-Z4SM for 2025. This nameplate did not have a known earlier discontinuation and revival cycle; it was a single continuous production run from introduction through its final model year.
