MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the GSX-S1000F

Introduced for the 2015 model year, this fully faired street motorcycle was launched as part of a new GSX-S family built around a street-tuned version of Suzuki’s long-stroke 999 cm³ inline-four that traced its roots to the GSX-R1000. It was positioned as a practical yet sporty road model: more upright and road-focused than a supersport machine, but still closely tied to Suzuki’s high-performance four-cylinder tradition. The fairing gave it a more touring-friendly profile than the naked sibling in the same family, while the chassis and electronics package emphasized everyday controllability, strong midrange response, and broad appeal for riders who wanted supersport-derived character without a full race-replica riding position. The model remained in production through the 2021 model year, when Suzuki replaced it with a new sport-tourer that was described as a full remodel of this machine and launched globally under a new nameplate. As a result, its history is a single continuous production run from its 2015 debut to its 2021 discontinuation, with no separate earlier revival under the same nameplate.
