This nameplate appeared in Suzuki’s U.S. cruiser lineup for the 2005 model year, when the company shifted several longstanding cruisers into the Boulevard family. In that move, the big-displacement VS1400 Intruder was rebadged as the S83, giving the model a new market-facing identity while continuing the same basic platform and overall character that had already made the machine familiar to cruiser buyers. Suzuki’s own parts catalog still identifies the S83 with 2005–2009 fitment, which aligns with the model’s known U.S. production run.
The S83 occupied a traditional heavy-cruiser role within the Boulevard range. It was aimed at riders who wanted a large, laid-back V-twin with long-established styling cues rather than a radical new chassis or modernized tech overhaul. That continuity is part of its appeal: the S83 did not try to reinvent the formula, but instead carried forward the proven big cruiser package that had already built a reputation under the Intruder name.
Production ended after the 2009 model year, and the Boulevard S83 did not return in a later revived form. As a result, it is best understood as a single continuous chapter in Suzuki’s Boulevard-era cruiser history, representing the final U.S. branding phase of the 1400-class Intruder lineage.
