MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the Cullinan

This nameplate is Rolls-Royce’s modern luxury SUV, introduced as the marque’s first production vehicle in the segment and positioned as an all-terrain, chauffeur-grade grand tourer. It was unveiled in 2018 and entered the market for the 2019 model year, bringing the traditional Rolls-Royce emphasis on rear-seat comfort, bespoke craftsmanship and quiet long-distance travel into a taller, more versatile body style. The vehicle was conceived to broaden the brand’s portfolio beyond saloons and coupés while preserving the formal, stately character associated with the badge.

The original version established the formula that defined the model: upright proportions, a highly personalised interior, and a focus on effortless refinement rather than off-road extremity. In 2019, a Black Badge derivative joined the range, adding a darker visual identity and a more assertive character for customers seeking a less formal interpretation. In 2024, the model received a substantial update identified as Series II, refining the exterior design and interior presentation while keeping the core concept intact.

As of the current model generation, the nameplate remains in production and represents one of the most important recent additions to the modern Rolls-Royce lineup. It is significant both as the brand’s first SUV and as the vehicle that helped establish the company’s contemporary presence in the ultra-luxury utility segment.
