LSS

The LSS nameplate appeared on Oldsmobile’s full-size front-wheel-drive sedan line in the mid-1990s as the sporty, more performance-oriented version of the Eighty Eight. Early cars were marketed as a luxury sport sedan with a stronger emphasis on driver involvement than the standard trim levels, and the model quickly became the enthusiast-oriented choice in Oldsmobile’s large-car lineup. For 1996, the car received a noticeable update that aligned its cabin and presentation more closely with Oldsmobile’s newer Aurora, helping the LSS move from an equipment package feel to a clearer standalone identity. Later versions continued that blend of comfort and performance, including available supercharged V6 power in some years, while retaining the practical full-size sedan format that defined the Eighty Eight family. The LSS remained in production through the 1999 model year, when the long-running Eighty Eight era ended and Oldsmobile’s large-sedan lineup was retired and replaced by newer models.
