MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the CX-30

Introduced in 2019, this compact crossover marked Mazda’s move to expand its SUV lineup with a model positioned between the smaller CX-3 and the larger CX-5. It debuted as the second vehicle in Mazda’s new-generation product family, first shown in early 2019 and then rolled out to key global markets later that year, including Japan, Europe and the United States. The nameplate was created as a fresh entry rather than a continuation of an older Mazda SUV, and it became an important core model for the brand’s worldwide crossover strategy. Styling followed Mazda’s contemporary Kodo design language, with a more coupe-like profile than a traditional boxy utility vehicle, while the cabin and packaging were aimed at everyday usability and a more premium feel than typical in the segment. Since launch, it has remained in continuous production and has been updated over time rather than discontinued and revived.
