KTM brought this nameplate to market for the 2008 model year as a lightweight, street-legal dual-sport built around the company’s LC4 single-cylinder platform. It was aimed at riders who wanted a machine that could commute on pavement during the week and still tackle dirt roads and rougher off-road terrain on the weekend, a formula that fit KTM’s long-running Enduro identity well.
The model appeared in KTM’s official parts and service references for 2008, 2009, and 2010, which aligns with its early-market production run. In KTM’s line-up, it sat between more aggressive competition-oriented enduro machinery and larger travel bikes, giving the brand a practical but still distinctly performance-focused off-road option. Its tall stance, simple mechanical layout, and dual-sport positioning made it especially appealing to riders who wanted real trail ability without moving all the way to a pure race bike.
This first-generation nameplate was eventually phased out after the 2010 model year. KTM later returned to the broader 690 adventure-enduro concept under the Enduro R designation, but that was a separate marketed nameplate rather than a continuous continuation of the original badge. As a result, this model’s history is best understood as a single early production run from 2008 through 2010.
