KTM introduced this sport-touring nameplate for the 2016 model year as a long-distance counterpart to the brand’s Super Duke performance line. It took the aggressive character of the company’s large LC8 V-twin platform and adapted it for faster, more comfortable road use, combining upright ergonomics, wind protection, luggage capability, and a more travel-oriented chassis setup than the naked Super Duke models. From the outset, it was positioned as a premium, high-performance tourer rather than a conventional adventure bike or a full-dress sport-tourer.
The first production run began in 2016 and has continued without a known discontinuation, so this is treated as a single continuous nameplate history. KTM’s own historical material identifies the model as arriving in 2016, and the company later referenced 2016–2018 examples in official suspension-upgrade communications when discussing subsequent updates. In 2019, KTM unveiled a revised version that sharpened the package and refined the touring-oriented hardware while keeping the same basic concept intact.
More recently, KTM has continued to list the model in its Sports Tourer range, showing that the nameplate remains part of the lineup rather than a revived or replaced dead-end project. Enthusiast interest in the bike largely comes from its unusual mix of superbike-derived performance and genuine long-distance usability, giving it a distinct place in KTM’s road-bike family.
