MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the Forte Koup

This coupe variant of Kia’s compact Forte line was introduced for the 2010 model year and gave the nameplate a sportier two-door body style alongside the sedan. In some markets it was also identified as the Cerato Koup, reflecting Kia’s global naming strategy during that era. The car arrived during Kia’s broader push to build a stronger, more youthful brand image, and it became part of the company’s early-2010s compact-car family that emphasized style and value as well as everyday usability. The coupe remained a niche alternative to the more common Forte sedan and hatchback, with a more enthusiast-oriented character and a small but loyal following. Kia confirmed that the coupe would leave the lineup after the 2016 model year, ending the original production run once remaining inventory was sold. The nameplate has not been revived as a separate model since then.
