ZN700 LTD

This 700-class cruiser was introduced for the 1984 model year as part of the era’s factory-custom LTD line, with a low-slung riding position, shaft drive, and styling aimed more at relaxed street presence than outright sport performance. It used the same general middleweight platform family as Kawasaki’s contemporary 700-series street bikes, but was reworked into a cruiser format with different ergonomics and visual treatment. The nameplate appears in 1984 and 1985 model-year documentation, indicating a short continuous production run rather than a long-lived series. In enthusiast circles it is remembered as one of the more distinctive Japanese cruisers of the mid-1980s, bridging the older air-cooled UJMs and the later wave of purpose-built V-twin customs. Although it was only offered briefly, it helped define the company’s early factory-cruiser image in North America and remains a recognizable transitional model from that period.
