MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the Ninja H2 SX

Kawasaki introduced this supercharged sport-tourer for the 2018 model year as part of the H2 family, extending the company’s forced-induction engineering into a long-distance road bike rather than a pure hypersport machine. It was positioned as a high-end touring-focused machine with the Ninja nameplate, combining the H2’s distinctive supercharged character with a more upright, road-going mission and factory luggage-friendly practicality. Over time, the line expanded into higher-spec variants such as the SE, adding more electronics and comfort-oriented equipment while keeping the same core identity. The model marked an important shift for Kawasaki: it showed that the supercharged H2 concept could be adapted into a mainstream production sport-tourer with advanced rider-assistance technology and premium touring features. The nameplate has remained in the lineup through the 2020s, evolving with updates rather than being discontinued and revived.
