This compact front-wheel-drive sedan appeared in the North American market for the 1990 model year as the replacement for the earlier compact sedan in the lineup. The nameplate was sold in the United States and Canada only briefly, spanning the 1990 through 1993 model years before being discontinued. Within that short run, it occupied the practical end of the brand’s passenger-car range and stood out as one of the last small conventional sedans offered by the company in North America before the company’s car business contracted further toward SUVs, pickups, and commercial vehicles. The model did not have a later revival under the same name in this market, so its history is a single continuous production period rather than multiple separate runs.
