The Q70 nameplate appeared for the 2014 model year as Infiniti’s renamed successor to the long-running M sedan, part of the brand’s move to align its passenger cars under the Q series naming scheme. It served as Infiniti’s executive luxury sedan, positioned above the Q50 and focused on comfort, craftsmanship and understated performance rather than overt sportiness. The model carried forward the basic mission of the earlier M while adopting the Q70 badge and updated styling, technology and interior presentation. Infiniti’s own heritage materials identify 2015 as the launch year in its legacy overview, while its U.S. discontinuation page states the Q70 ran from 2014 through 2019; taken together, this places the nameplate’s production in a single continuous run that ended after the 2019 model year. The Q70 was offered in standard and long-wheelbase forms, with the Q70L name used for the stretched variant in later years. Across its life, the model reflected Infiniti’s traditional rear-wheel-drive luxury-sedan formula, with available V6 and V8 powertrains and a focus on refinement, available all-wheel drive and a well-appointed cabin. It is remembered by enthusiasts as one of the last true Infiniti sedans from the brand’s pre-SUV-dominant era, and its retirement marked the end of Infiniti’s full-size executive-sedan lineage in North America.
