MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the J30

The J30 was Infiniti’s early-1990s midsize luxury sedan, sold in the U.S. from the 1993 through 1997 model years. It stood apart from the square-edged luxury cars of its era with a smooth, rounded body, a low roofline, and a deliberately coupe-like profile. Built as a rear-wheel-drive V6 sedan, it gave Infiniti a more design-forward alternative to the Q45 and helped broaden the brand’s identity beyond conservative luxury. A Touring version added a more enthusiast-oriented character, including four-wheel steering and distinctive wheels. The J30 is still remembered as one of Infiniti’s most recognizable early nameplates and an example of the brand’s willingness to take styling risks in its formative years.
