This nameplate was introduced for the 2025 model year as part of Indian Motorcycle’s expansion of the PowerPlus touring lineup. It applies to the brand’s fork-faired bagger format, pairing the Chieftain’s familiar road-going silhouette with the liquid-cooled PowerPlus V-twin instead of the air-cooled Thunderstroke engine used on other Chieftain variants. Indian positioned it as a more performance-focused and athletic alternative within the family, with a compact stance and sharper styling that distinguish it from the traditional Chieftain. The model arrived alongside a broader PowerPlus rollout that also included the Roadmaster PowerPlus, reflecting Indian’s push to grow the modern performance-touring side of its lineup. For 2025, the motorcycle was shown with the PowerPlus 108 engine, and for 2026 the nameplate remained in production as Indian updated the platform around the newer PowerPlus 112 engine. The model is part of Indian’s ongoing effort to blend classic American bagger styling with contemporary rider-assist technology and high-output V-twin performance. In the brand’s current lineup, it serves as the sportier PowerPlus-based counterpart to the standard Chieftain, aimed at riders who want a more modern-feeling touring motorcycle without giving up the hard-bagged, fork-mounted-fairing format that defines the nameplate.
