The original 101 version was developed with a new frame and revised geometry that gave it a longer wheelbase, more relaxed steering, and a lower riding position, helping create the balance and handling that earned it a legendary reputation among riders and racers. The early 101 Scout ran through 1931 before being displaced in the early 1930s by other Scout variants based on heavier-duty frames.
After a long absence, the name returned for the 2025 model year as the top performance member of the modern Scout family. The revived version was introduced as part of the company’s next-generation Scout lineup and positioned as the most performance-focused Scout in the range, using the historic name to connect the new motorcycle with one of the most admired Indian models of the classic era. Because the nameplate was used in two separate periods, the modern version is a revival rather than a continuation of the original run.
