MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the PC800 (PACIFIC COAST)

Honda introduced this touring motorcycle in 1989 as an unconventional, fully faired long-distance machine built around everyday usability rather than sport performance. Its most distinctive feature was the integrated rear storage compartment, which gave the bike a practical, car-like sense of luggage capacity while the streamlined bodywork set it apart from conventional touring motorcycles of the era. The model was aimed at riders who wanted comfort, weather protection and easy handling in a package that felt approachable rather than intimidating. After the initial launch, the nameplate disappeared from some markets for a couple of years before Honda brought it back for the 1994 model year with little change beyond updated colors and pricing. It remained on sale through the late 1990s, with later updates focused mainly on cosmetics and detail refinements rather than a wholesale redesign. Among enthusiasts, it became known as one of Honda’s most idiosyncratic road bikes: a practical, low-drama touring machine with unusually integrated storage and a design that looked far ahead of its time.
