The Story of the Elite 125

This urban scooter was introduced in the Brazilian market in December 2018 as Honda’s entry-level step into the scooter segment. It was positioned as a practical, easy-to-ride, and affordable option for commuters, new riders, and buyers looking for a compact machine for daily city use. From the start, it was aimed at the same broad audience that helped make small-displacement scooters a core part of Honda’s roadgoing lineup in Brazil, where convenience, low running costs, and simple operation are major selling points.

The model remained in continuous production after launch and built a strong market position over its first years on sale. In 2024, it was extensively updated rather than replaced, with Honda describing the revision as a move to a second generation. That update brought a new engine family with eSP technology, an Idling Stop system, a redesigned chassis, and revised suspension tuning, while keeping the same general mission as a compact urban scooter. The changes marked a meaningful technical step forward, but they did not represent a separate historical production run.

By the mid-2020s, the scooter had become one of Honda’s key two-wheeler offerings in Brazil and a familiar choice for riders who wanted an accessible, efficient, and low-stress machine for everyday transport. Its history is best understood as a single continuous Brazilian nameplate launched in 2018, later refreshed into a more advanced second-generation form, and still on the market today.
