MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the ATC350X

This nameplate appeared in the middle of Honda’s sport three-wheeler era and represented the company’s most powerful production ATC of the period. Introduced for the 1985 model year, it arrived as a high-performance, off-road-focused machine at a time when Honda’s ATC lineup was already well established in North America. The model continued for the 1986 model year, after which it was discontinued as Honda’s three-wheeled ATV era drew to a close.

Unlike the earlier utility-oriented ATCs that helped define the category, this machine was aimed squarely at enthusiasts who wanted a more aggressive, performance-biased ride. It sat at the top of Honda’s sport-ATC hierarchy and became closely associated with the final, most developed phase of Honda’s three-wheel lineup. That positioning gave it a strong reputation among riders and collectors, especially because Honda’s ATC program itself had been one of the most influential forces in the early ATV market.

Its place in Honda history is important because it reflects both the peak and the end of the company’s factory-built sport three-wheelers. Honda shifted its ATV strategy toward four-wheel machines soon after, and the three-wheeler segment was phased out entirely. As a result, this model is remembered not only for its performance role, but also as one of the last and most recognizable symbols of Honda’s three-wheel off-road legacy.
