XR1200

Harley-Davidson introduced this Sportster-based performance model as a street-oriented tribute to the company’s dirt-track racing heritage and the XR750 in particular. First shown as a prototype in 2006, it reached production for the 2008 model year in Europe before later arriving in North America. The bike stood apart from traditional Sportsters with a more aggressive chassis and riding position aimed at handling and corner carving rather than cruising. It was positioned as an enthusiast-focused machine that brought a sharper, more track-inspired personality to the Harley lineup. Production of this original XR1200 ended after the 2010 model year, after which Harley-Davidson moved to the more focused XR1200X variant.
