Harley-Davidson introduced this CVO touring nameplate for the 2002 model year as a factory-customized Road King variant under the Screamin’ Eagle performance banner. It returned for 2003 in an updated version, then disappeared from the lineup for several years before coming back again in the later CVO era, where Harley-Davidson service literature identifies FLHRSE3 for 2007, FLHRSE4 for 2008, and FLHRSE5 for 2013. That history makes it a nameplate with multiple distinct production periods rather than one uninterrupted run. As a premium, limited-production interpretation of the Road King, it occupied Harley-Davidson’s highest-custom touring space and helped establish the factory-built performance-and-luxury image that later became closely associated with CVO models.
