Harley-Davidson’s Softail Deluxe is a retro-styled Softail cruiser built around classic boulevard cues: full valanced fenders, lots of chrome, whitewall tires, a low seat, and a hardtail look backed by hidden rear suspension. In Harley-Davidson’s own 2012 materials, the model is identified as FLSTN and described as receiving a larger Twin Cam 103 engine that year, which makes 2012 the start of this specific FLSTN103-era application. The bike continued in that form through the 2017 model year, with Harley-Davidson still listing the FLSTN Deluxe in its 2017 Softail VIN breakdown and marketplace listings. For 2018, Harley-Davidson launched an all-new Softail family and carried the Deluxe role forward under a new FLDE code, marking the end of the FLSTN103-era run. The Softail Deluxe has long appealed to riders who want vintage Harley presentation without giving up modern cruising manners, and it remains one of the most recognizable nostalgia-themed models in the company’s Softail history.
