The Story of the Dyna Convertible

Harley-Davidson introduced this convertible Dyna-based cruiser for the 1994 model year, giving riders a factory-built mix of everyday solo riding and light touring flexibility. It arrived as part of the company’s move to the Dyna chassis era, pairing the familiar big-twin Harley character with a more modern frame and detachable touring hardware such as windshield and luggage equipment. That made it one of the more versatile sport-cruiser interpretations in Harley-Davidson’s 1990s lineup.

The model stayed in the catalog through the 2000 model year, spanning the final years of the Evolution-powered Dyna period and the transition to Harley’s Twin Cam era. It is remembered as a distinctive niche bike: less stripped-down than a standard cruiser, but not as heavy or full-dress as a touring model. Enthusiasts often value it for its factory convertible concept and its place in the early Dyna story, before the nameplate disappeared after 2000.
