This compact SUV joined Ford’s U.S. lineup for the 2018 model year as the brand’s smallest utility vehicle, aimed at buyers who wanted an affordable urban crossover with a tall seating position and versatile packaging. Although the nameplate had already been used in other markets before reaching North America, the U.S.-market version was introduced as a fresh addition to Ford’s SUV range and was sold here through the 2022 model year. It arrived in the middle of Ford’s broader shift away from passenger cars and toward utilities, and it was positioned below the Escape and Edge as an entry point into the brand’s SUV lineup. The U.S. version went through a mid-cycle update early in its run, but the basic formula remained the same: a small, practical crossover with a focus on city-friendly size and value. Ford later retired the nameplate in the U.S., ending the model’s continuous American production run after 2022.
