MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the B800

This nameplate was Ford’s heavy-duty B-Series school-bus chassis in its later, single-name form. It appeared for the 1995 model year, when Ford’s medium-duty bus chassis lineup was simplified and the truck was commonly identified as B800 rather than by the older B-600/B-700/B-800 external badging. The chassis was sold to bus body builders as a conventional cowled platform rather than as a complete bus, so its final appearance and passenger-carrying body were determined by the coach builder rather than Ford alone. During its short run, it represented the last generation of Ford’s traditional B-Series school-bus chassis. Production ended after the 1998 model year, closing out Ford’s long-running B-Series bus-chassis lineage in North America.
