MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the F80

Introduced in October 2024 for the 2025 model year, this limited-production Ferrari supercar marks the latest chapter in Maranello’s modern halo-car tradition. Ferrari positioned it as the successor to a line of rare, technologically ambitious flagship models that began with the 1984 GTO and continued through icons such as the F40, F50, Enzo and LaFerrari. Built in a run of 799 examples, it was conceived as a road-going expression of Ferrari’s racing know-how rather than a conventional series-production sports car.

The nameplate is significant because it signals a fresh design and engineering era for Ferrari’s supercar range. Its appearance is more extreme and aerodynamic than the company’s mainstream road cars, with styling and packaging shaped by the demands of downforce, cooling and driver-focused cockpit layout. Ferrari described it as the most powerful road car it had produced at launch, and much of the car’s identity comes from the way it combines hybrid technology, motorsport-derived systems and a newly developed chassis architecture.

Historically, the F80 matters not just as a fast Ferrari, but as a statement piece. It reflects the company’s habit of using its rarest cars to preview the direction of future design and technical thinking. Like the legendary Ferrari supercars that came before it, it was unveiled as an event car and intended to be an enthusiast milestone as much as a collectible object. As a result, it stands as a distinct new nameplate within Ferrari’s supercar lineage, rather than a continuation of an earlier model.
