Conquest

This nameplate was introduced for the 1984 model year as a Japanese-built, rear-wheel-drive turbo coupe based on the Mitsubishi Starion. It was positioned as an affordable performance car with distinctive fastback styling and a stronger enthusiast bent than many of the brand’s other cars of the era. For 1984 through 1986, the nameplate was used on the Dodge-badged version sold in the United States, while the same basic car was also offered under Plymouth branding. The model became known for its crisp handling, boost-friendly four-cylinder turbo power, and 1980s import-performance character, making it one of the more memorable Chrysler-related sporty coupes of the decade. After the 1986 model year, the Dodge-branded version ended; the Conquest name later continued on a related Chrysler-badged variant from 1987 to 1989.
