This minivan nameplate began life in overseas markets in 1988 as Chrysler-badged version of the company’s front-wheel-drive family van, expanding the original U.S. minivan formula into Europe and other export markets. It quickly became one of the best-known badges in Chrysler’s global minivan story, later appearing in standard- and long-wheelbase forms and becoming closely associated with practical, family-focused transport rather than luxury or performance. The nameplate was discontinued in 2016 when Chrysler’s minivan lineup was reshaped around a newer flagship model.
After that gap, the badge returned for the 2020 model year in North America as a value-oriented minivan positioned below the more upscale sibling in the lineup. This revival reused the modern minivan architecture and many of the same family-friendly packaging ideas, but was aimed at shoppers who wanted a lower entry price and straightforward equipment. Chrysler has continued to market it as a current showroom minivan, and in 2026 the company announced that starting with the 2027 model year, it will be renamed Pacifica LX rather than continue under the Voyager badge.
Because the nameplate has two separate production eras — the original overseas run and the later modern revival — the history is best treated as a discontinued-and-returned model rather than a single uninterrupted continuous series.
