This nameplate first appeared for the 2004 model year as a Chrysler-badged crossover, positioned as a premium, car-based alternative in the brand’s lineup rather than a traditional minivan. That original version ran through the 2008 model year before disappearing from Chrysler showrooms, making way for a long gap in the nameplate’s history. The badge returned in 2017 on an all-new family-hauling minivan that was launched in 2016 as a 2017 model. Chrysler has since treated the revived vehicle as a distinct modern era for the name, with the Pacifica becoming the brand’s flagship minivan and one of the most visible vehicles in its current lineup. The result is a nameplate with two separate production periods: an early 2000s crossover chapter and a later, ongoing minivan chapter that helped redefine Chrysler’s family-vehicle identity.
