Shadow

The Shadow nameplate appeared on Chrysler-badged Mexican-market cars beginning with the 1989 model year, when Chrysler of Mexico used the name for its locally sold version of the compact front-wheel-drive P-body line built in Toluca. It was positioned as an affordable small car and shared its basic engineering with the related Dodge and Plymouth models sold in other markets, giving it the same practical, economy-focused character but with Chrysler branding and local-market trim and equipment. Over its run, the nameplate was used on familiar body styles from the compact-car era of the late 1980s and early 1990s, including practical everyday variants and some sportier versions in the lineup. The model remained part of Chrysler Mexico’s range through the 1994 model year, after which it was displaced as the brand moved to newer small-car offerings. In Mexico, the Shadow is remembered as one of Chrysler’s better-known compact nameplates of the period, especially among enthusiasts who associate it with the company’s front-wheel-drive K-car family and the transition away from older compact Chrysler products.
