Chevrolet used this medium-duty nameplate for a tilt-cab class 7 truck that first appeared in the 1984 model year as part of the Tiltmaster/W7000 family. It was a vocational commercial chassis, positioned above Chevrolet’s light-duty pickups and below heavier conventional truck lines, and it was closely related to GM’s shared medium-duty truck program of the era. The original run lasted through the 1996 model year, after which the nameplate disappeared for a period. Chevrolet later revived the W-Series in the mid-2000s with an all-new medium-duty lineup, and the W7 designation returned as part of that second production period. Because the badge was used in separate eras with a gap in between, the nameplate’s history is best understood as two distinct production runs rather than one continuous sequence.
