This Chevrolet medium-duty cab-over nameplate represented the lighter end of the brand’s commercial truck lineup and is best known as the Chevrolet-badged version of the Isuzu-based Tiltmaster/W-Series trucks sold in North America. It first appeared in the mid-1980s, when Chevrolet brought the Tiltmaster into its truck portfolio as a forward-control work truck aimed at delivery, vocational, and municipal buyers who needed a compact cab-over with strong maneuverability and easy body-upfitting. Over time, the truck evolved from the early Tiltmaster identity into the W-Series designation, but it remained the same basic commercial vehicle line rather than a separate passenger-oriented model.
The truck was a familiar sight with utility bodies, box van bodies, landscape beds, and other vocational conversions, and it served as Chevrolet’s medium-duty cab-over offering through the final years of the traditional W-Series. Its appeal was practicality: a short hoodless footprint, good visibility, and a chassis designed to support many kinds of specialized work bodies.
