MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the Traverse Limited

This nameplate was used for Chevrolet’s outgoing midsize SUV in the 2024 model year, when the previous-generation Traverse continued alongside the all-new redesign introduced for 2024. Chevrolet applied the Limited badge to distinguish the carryover model from the fresh third-generation Traverse, which launched with a new body and a revised trim structure. The Limited version represented the final chapter of the long-running first-generation successor that had already been on sale for several years before the redesign arrived.

The Traverse itself was originally introduced for the 2009 model year as Chevrolet’s three-row crossover utility vehicle, positioned as a family-focused alternative to body-on-frame SUVs. Over time it became one of Chevrolet’s core midsize utility offerings, known for emphasizing passenger space, everyday usability and a broad mainstream appeal. When the next-generation Traverse was announced for 2024, Chevrolet kept the prior model in the lineup for one more year under the Limited name to provide a transition period for buyers who preferred the established design.

As a result, Traverse Limited is best understood as a one-year continuation of the earlier Traverse rather than a separate long-running model line. It exists as a short-lived bridge between the old and new generations, marking the end of the original Traverse era before the redesigned 2024 Traverse took over the nameplate.
