Chevrolet’s 5500HD nameplate arrived in the 2017 model year as part of the brand’s modern medium-duty commercial truck push. The 5500HD has been marketed as a commercial chassis rather than a consumer pickup, so its significance is tied less to retail trim levels and more to its role in Chevrolet’s fleet and upfitter business. The nameplate remains in production today.
