MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the Escalade ESV

Cadillac’s long-wheelbase luxury SUV entered the market as the extended version of the Escalade, created to add a roomier third row and substantially more cargo space without changing the model’s core identity. It arrived for the 2003 model year and quickly became the body style of choice for buyers who wanted the Escalade’s full-size presence with added utility. Unlike some niche variants that come and go, the ESV has remained part of the Escalade family through successive generations, evolving alongside the standard wheelbase model rather than being replaced by it. Over time, it has served as Cadillac’s answer to the large premium SUV segment’s demand for maximum passenger and luggage capacity, while still carrying the Escalade name’s focus on bold styling, truck-based capability and upscale interior appointments. In recent years, Cadillac has continued to position the ESV as the extended-body member of the lineup, alongside the standard-length Escalade and performance-oriented variants.
