Buell introduced this nameplate for the 1997 model year as part of the company’s late-1990s air-cooled big-twin streetbike lineup. The nameplate ran in one continuous production period from 1997 through 2002. Factory parts documentation shows separate catalog coverage for 1997–1998, 1999, 2000–2001, and 2002 model-year versions, confirming that the motorcycle remained in the lineup through the 2002 model year before disappearing from production. There was no later revival of the same nameplate, so this should be treated as a single historical run rather than multiple eras.
Within Buell’s lineup, the model represented the brand’s muscular standard-bike interpretation of Erik Buell’s design philosophy.
