The BMW R 1200 ST was BMW Motorrad’s sport-touring boxer for riders who wanted a more road-biased, athletic alternative to the brand’s larger touring models. BMW also offered a limited-edition version in 2007, which underscores that the model was still part of the company’s active motorcycle range in the mid-2000s.
The nameplate appears in BMW Motorrad’s model-year materials for 2005 through 2008, and no later production run is documented in BMW’s official materials. As a result, the R 1200 ST is best understood as a single, continuous production model from the mid-2000s that ended after the 2008 model year.
