BMW introduced the 760Li as the long-wheelbase flagship of the fourth-generation 7 Series, bringing the V12-powered top model into the lineup for the 2003 model year. It was BMW’s most luxurious full-size sedan badge at the time, aimed at buyers who wanted the maximum rear-seat space and the brand’s smoothest, most prestigious engine configuration in one package. The first 760Li ran through the E66 era and established the nameplate as the stretched companion to the standard-wheelbase 760i. When the 7 Series was redesigned for the F01/F02 generation, BMW carried the 760Li badge forward as the long-wheelbase V12 flagship again, keeping it at the top of the regular 7 Series range through the 2015 model year. After that generation ended, BMW moved its V12 flagship role to the M760Li xDrive on the next 7 Series, and the plain 760Li nameplate did not continue into the new lineup.
