MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the Azure

Bentley’s Azure was introduced as a full-size luxury convertible in the mid-1990s, drawing on the Continental R’s underpinnings and continuing Bentley’s tradition of high-speed open-top grand touring. The first Azure entered production in 1995 and ran through 2003, becoming one of the defining Bentley cabriolets of its era and one of the brand’s best-known modern coachbuilt-style cars. In 2005 Bentley announced a successor that reached production for the 2006 model year, reviving the Azure nameplate after the gap. That second generation shifted to Arnage-based engineering and a distinct two-door body designed in-house at Crewe, while remaining focused on luxury, refinement and long-distance cruising. Bentley later closed out the line with the Azure T, a final-series performance version launched in 2009. Because the nameplate was discontinued and later revived, the Azure is best understood as two separate production eras rather than one continuous run.
