The Story of the ARMOURED ARNAGE

Armoured Arnage is best understood as a special-protection or coachbuilt interpretation of the Bentley Arnage rather than a separate factory nameplate. Bentley introduced the Arnage in 1998 as its new flagship four-door saloon, and over time the range expanded to include long-wheelbase and more individualized derivative models such as the Arnage RL. In 2002, Bentley built two coachbuilt State Limousines for Queen Elizabeth II based on the Arnage, with larger dimensions and formal rear access, showing how the platform could be adapted for heavily protected ceremonial use. Some Arnage-derived cars also received armoured equipment for high-security customers, but Bentley did not market “Armoured Arnage” as a distinct, continuous production model. The underlying Arnage line remained in production until the 2009 Final Series, which closed out the nameplate after a decade at the top of Bentley’s saloon range.
