The Story of the S e-tron GT

The Audi S e-tron GT is the S-badged performance version of Audi’s all-electric Gran Turismo, introduced as part of the updated e-tron GT family in 2024. Audi described the refreshed lineup as having improved range, performance, charging, and handling, and said the S e-tron GT made its debut alongside the revised RS e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT performance. This means the S e-tron GT is a relatively new nameplate rather than an early original member of the e-tron GT range.

The broader e-tron GT story began earlier, when Audi launched the original e-tron GT lineup in 2021 with the e-tron GT quattro and RS e-tron GT. Those cars established the model’s identity as a low-slung, four-door electric grand tourer built in Germany and positioned above mainstream EVs as a more design-led, high-performance alternative. The S e-tron GT arrived later as part of the model family’s mid-cycle expansion, giving Audi a distinct S variant between the standard e-tron GT and the top RS models.

In Audi’s lineup, the S e-tron GT carries the brand’s familiar S-model positioning: sporty, premium, and more focused than the base model, but not as extreme as an RS flagship. Its significance is less about being a separate long-running lineage and more about marking the next era of the e-tron GT series, when Audi broadened the family and sharpened its appeal in the electric performance grand-touring segment. The nameplate is currently in production, so there is no final model year to record yet.
