Audi introduced the A7 Sportback in 2010 as a new upscale fastback aimed at blending coupe-style design with the practicality of a four-door grand touring car. It arrived in Europe in late 2010 and established the A7 nameplate as Audi’s more emotional alternative to a conventional sedan in the executive class. The original car was notable for its sleek liftback body, advanced technology for the time, and its position as the basis for the performance-oriented S7 and RS 7 derivatives that followed. In 2018, Audi launched a second-generation A7 Sportback with a sharper design language and a more modern interior and electronics package, continuing the model’s role as a stylish, technology-focused flagship. Audi’s own model history shows the A7 Sportback as a previous model until 2025, with the nameplate then handing off to the A6 successor line. Throughout its run, the A7 remained closely associated with Audi’s “Sportback” concept: a practical five-door shape with a low, coupe-like profile and a premium image that helped define one of the brand’s most recognizable modern designs.
