MODEL HISTORY

The Story of the Rhino 450

This side-by-side nameplate appeared as a smaller-displacement member of Yamaha’s Rhino family, offering the same two-seat, work-and-play concept that made the broader Rhino line popular in North America. It was positioned as the more affordable, easier-to-live-with version of Yamaha’s larger Rhino models, aimed at buyers who wanted a compact utility-recreational machine rather than a pure sport ATV. The model was listed in Yamaha’s 2009 Rhino literature, where it sat alongside the larger Rhino variants as part of the lineup for that model year. By the next ATV lineup update, Yamaha’s product range had moved on to other utility and sport models, and the Rhino family was no longer carried forward in the same form. As a result, this nameplate is best understood as a short-lived, late-cycle entry in Yamaha’s original Rhino era rather than a long-running standalone series.
