This snowmobile nameplate first appeared for the 2004 model year as a sporty, lightweight two-stroke machine positioned below the larger performance sleds in the lineup. Its launch emphasized quick handling and accessible performance, and contemporary factory material described it as using the SXViper’s frame and a lightweight 600cc-class engine to create an easy-to-ride sport model. The nameplate did not continue as a regular part of the lineup after the mid-2000s, and later returned in a very different era as a revived entry-level performance sled. In its modern form, the snowmobile reintroduced the name in the 2021–2025 period as a compact, family-friendly trail model aimed at young, new, and returning riders. The revived version shifted to a contemporary lightweight chassis and fuel-injected 397cc single-cylinder two-stroke layout, with Yamaha marketing it as a playful, accessible machine rather than a pure race replica. Because the nameplate has both an early-2000s production run and a later revival, it should be treated as having multiple separate production periods rather than one continuous run.
