This compact electric SUV was introduced by VinFast in January 2023 and publicly shown as part of the brand’s next wave of EVs. It was developed with Torino Design and positioned in the C-segment, slotting between the smaller VF 6 and the larger VF 8 in VinFast’s all-electric lineup. VinFast first previewed the model at the 2022 Los Angeles Auto Show, then formally announced its specifications at CES 2023 and opened reservations later that year.
The vehicle’s story so far is that of a single, continuous production-era nameplate rather than a revived legacy model. Early marketing highlighted two main trims and a coupe-like SUV profile, with the design language centered on VinFast’s signature lighting strip and a modern, tech-forward cabin. VinFast positioned it as a global model from the outset, and it has since been rolled out in multiple markets beyond Vietnam.
As of now, the nameplate remains in production, so there is no final model year to record. The model has become part of VinFast’s core electric-SUV family and represents one of the company’s most important newer entries as it expands internationally.
