The Story of the Scrambler 900

This modern 900cc scrambler is the latest chapter in Triumph’s long-running Scrambler lineage. Triumph says it reintroduced the iconic Scrambler in 2006, drawing on the brand’s desert-racer heritage and the classic British twin formula that helped define the original scrambler look and feel. The 900cc member of the family later evolved through the Street Scrambler name, then was updated and presented as Scrambler 900 for the 2021 model year, giving the established concept a cleaner, more contemporary identity while keeping the same upright, go-anywhere character.

As a nameplate, Scrambler 900 represents the more accessible, road-biased side of Triumph’s Scrambler range. It blends the familiar high-level exhaust silhouette, wide bars and dual-purpose stance with modern rider aids and a more polished finish than the earlier revival bikes. Triumph’s own materials describe it as a machine for urban riding and light off-road use, positioned around style, easy handling and everyday versatility rather than outright adventure-bike aggression.

The model’s history is therefore best understood in two stages: Triumph’s broader Scrambler revival beginning in 2006, and the specific Scrambler 900 nameplate arriving with the 2021-era update to the 900cc Bonneville-based platform. Since it is still in production, there is no final model year to record yet.
