GEM

This neighborhood electric vehicle nameplate began in 1998 as one of the first U.S.-manufactured low-speed electric vehicles, created to fill the gap between a golf cart and a full-size automobile. Over time it became a recognized street-legal micromobility platform, with early growth tied to the emerging low-speed vehicle category and later expansion into multiple body styles for both personal and commercial use. The brand changed hands before joining Polaris, but the nameplate itself remained in continuous production rather than ending and returning. Polaris acquired GEM in 2011 and continued developing it as part of its small electric vehicle portfolio. In 2015, Polaris introduced an all-new version with a fresh design emphasis on comfort, safety, and practical urban use. The line was refreshed again in 2021 with new premium-focused offerings aimed at neighborhood cruising and personal utility. GEM has remained closely associated with quiet, low-speed electric transportation and is one of the better-known long-running names in the U.S. LSV market.
